//// notes from a meeting between steve, eric, and brandon - 2/2/17 - we need a way to limit discounts - maybe a corp-wide setting - maybe think about discount rules - maybe on the item level adding a flag "allow discounts" - this is on the per item level - we may need a flag on the child as well... - on discounts, maybe go up to the category level - maybe allow a switch to cascade from this level down... top level block - we need to break the part categories into sub categories - it may get deeper and get into smart carts, discount rules, categories, sub categories, parent items, children items, QR codes, barcodes, my cart favorite buttons, rules and assignments, auto apply, in-line discounts, percentages and dollars off, gift cards, credits, loyalty points, ..... how deep do we want to go. - we can see discounts going clear down to a child level - per package - redemtion of loyaly points - inheritance - how deep and which direction - what about promotion codes, coupons, campaigns, sales, and special deals - we have generic discounts (per customer type, per customer, per cart, per ....) - we also have special discounts (special time frame, special rate, special quantity) - we are seeing three main levels: category, item, and subs - we may need some pricing matrix options and rules - this may get into conversions - we have a whole bunch of other notes on this subject - we may need a time specific sale, discount rate, or campaign - how easy is it to turn a sale and/or campaign on - what if they were preset and could go off at a specific time or the click of a switch - eric has done a ton of these things... we need to tap into some of the knowledge and experience - as an idea... what if we let people setup special reserved word... or we setup some new ones such as: gift card, loyalty points, loyalty points redemtion, etc. - there is no way we could get it right for everybody... we need to empower the users and persons setting up the system - it may be better to allow them to create it, name it, and then set the rules on how it plays - if we had loyalty point setup, we may also want to include those values on the bottom of the invoice - we may also want to show these points outside in the ecommerce level - most of eric's clients want him to enforce the rules... no touchy on certain things - our users want easy setup stuff, custom button, and easy to use functionality
