meeting with Newtek - 1/11/17 - number one concern - the data code, database, photos, files/media/content - hardware and up-time - back-up recovery and plan - full back-up and store off-site - we would like to know more about the virtual environment - it takes us about 2 weeks to spin up a new server ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// - newtek will be switching to a pod based model for customer service - back-up recovery - they would spin up a new box and load up the latest back-up that they have. - back-up over a private network - doesn't have access to the internet - how far back are you able to go? 2 weeks or 14 days - Steve would like an email from Adam dealing with the current back-up and disaster recovery plan is - they can do any back-up plan that we would like. they could even show us what other clients are doing. - the pod-type system allows for a team based and personal feeling - solid state hard drives - net app solution - maybe look into a VPS model - we could template (quick rules and deployment opitons) - spin up new servers quicker - multiple smaller vps servers with full roll-over - run things in parralle vs. stacked - load balancing - manual vs. automatic - take things to ip addresses and sections within the data center - on our end... maybe check the companies out and see what features they are going to be using - possible idea - floating database model and traffic could float as well - we can get "new site setup" stuff to adam. he will record that info in the documentation for us. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// - from bryan, what about sql server vs. mysql - price, features, rollover, etc. - looking forward 10+ years... where do we want to be? - maybe get some outside consulting to help us future proof things - server side - coldfuison vs PHP vs ASP.net vs Ruby vs Java vs JavaScript, other, etc. - they say they want all of our specs, but we still had to babysit things pretty heavily
